little steps

This week is a week of pushing through and getting the work done even if I am feeling tired, run down and not in the zone.  After every workout I feel so much better than I did going into it, and remembering that feeling is what is keeping me going day in and day out towards my goals.


I realized a long time ago that there is not one moment in time that things click and you wake up realizing that you have arrived.  You are always someplace on the journey. 



This week I am focusing on little steps and not the longer road ahead.  Monday I spent 2 hours at the gym, 1 hour working out with my trainer, then another hour in yoga as I was so tight that I had to modify a lot of the exercises my PT was having me do. 

Some of the little steps that are adding up quicker than I thought have been in the area of my strength for body work.  I am able to do strict pushups now, the correct way, both wide and narrow. In November I could not do one without being on my knees, and in January I could do them strict form but having to go down all the way to the ground before lifting myself back up.

Last night I made it all the way to bed, as in literally lying in bed under the covers, when I realized that I had no excuse not to whip out a quick booty workout before hitting the hay.  I opened up my Fit Girls Guide 28 Day Jump Start program and did the booty workout of 3 sets of  10 single legged bridges (10 each leg), 30 second swimmers, 20 second wall sits, and 10 sumo squats.  It is amazing how much you can get your HR up with a simple at home circuit! 

After I completed my 3 sets I went to bed feeling accomplished.  2 of 5 days workout completed. 

Tonight is the same as Monday, minus the hour of yoga afterwards, a killer workout of:
  • 10 wide legged squat presses
  • 10 wide legged squat presses + 9 resistance band side turns 
  • 10 wide legged squat presses + 9 resistance band side turns + 8 weighted front lunges
  • 10, 9, 8 + 7 leg walks
  • 10,9,8,7 + 6 side planks
  • 10,9,8,7,6 + 5 push ups (strict!)
  • 10,9,8,7,6,5 + 14 TRX rows
  • 10,9,8,7,6,5,4, + 30 second dead run on treadmill
I am well fuelled, I am ready and I am happy to say day 3 of 5 will be in the books very soon!

Today's take away - when things become overwhelming, focus on the little steps because they really do add up!  Do the work and the results will catch up eventually!
